A Review of Signal Processing Techniques for Ultrasonic Guided Wave Testing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Ultrasonic guided wave testing (UGWT) is a non-destructive (NDT) technique commonly used in structural health monitoring to perform wide-range inspection from single point, thus reducing the time and effort required for NDT. However, multi-modal dispersive nature of waves makes extraction essential information that leads defect detection an extremely challenging task. The purpose this article give overview signal processing techniques filtering signals, isolating modes identifying localising defects UGWT. are summarised grouped according geometry studied structures. Although reviewed have led satisfactory results, identification through remains with space improvement, particularly by combining integrating machine learning algorithms.

A Review of Application of Signal Processing Techniques for Fault Diagnosis of Induction Motors – Part I

Abstract - Use of efficient signal processing tools (SPTs) to extract proper indices for fault detection in induction motors (IMs) is the essential part of any fault recognition procedure. The Part1 of the two parts paper focuses on Fourier-based techniques including fast Fourier transform and short time Fourier transform. In this paper, all utilized SPTs which have been employed for fault fete...

Ultrasonic Guided Wave Nondestructive Testing for Helicopter Rotor Blade

Ultrasonic guided waves are used to detect the delamination between skin and honeycomb of a composite helicopter rotor blade. Theoretical work is carried out for guided waves in the trailing edge of a rotor blade, which is a multilayer composite skin/NOMEX half space structure. The dispersion relation is obtained with the global matrix method. Theoretically driven experiments are conducted on a...

Application of Signal Processing Tools for Fault Diagnosis in Induction Motors-A Review-Part II

The use of efficient signal processing tools (SPTs) to extract proper indices for the fault detection in induction motors (IMs) is the essential part of any fault recognition procedure. The 2nd part of this two-part paper is, in turn, divided into two parts. Part two covers the signal processing techniques which can be applied to non-stationary conditions. In this paper, all utilized SPTs for n...

Ultrasonic guided wave imaging for damage characterization

Guided wave imaging with a sparse array of inexpensive transducers offers a fast, reliable, and cost-efficient means for damage detection and localization in plate-like structures such as aircraft and spacecraft skins. As such, this technology is a natural choice for inclusion in condition-based maintenance and integrated structural health management programs. One of the implementation challeng...

Guided Wave Non-contact Ultrasonic for Nde

Non-contact ultrasonic, enables rapid testing of structures using ultrasonic tests that are not possible via conventional contact transducers. This paper reports on laser ultrasonic and air/gas coupled ultrasonic measurements that are performed remotely, do not require direct access to test area, do not need traditional ultrasonic coupling and do not have traditional C-scan fixture requirements...
